Elgin Baylor calls Stephen Curry a "freak of nature"

With each passing day, the Stephen Curry mythology grows larger. His peers often speak of his on-court exploits with the wide-eyed disbelief of children recalling an alien encounter. He’s a generational talent who has set the record books aflame and become the face of the league.

He’s also grabbed the attention of NBA legends. Hall of Fame guard Elgin Baylor stopped by ESPN’s The Jump on Wednesday morning to promote his new memoir Hang Time. Towards the end of the interview, the former 11-time All-Star was asked which current NBA players he enjoyed watching most. Naturally, his answer was Curry.

“I have never seen anything like that in my life,” Baylor told ESPN’s, Rachel Nichols. “He’s a freak of nature. I don’t think we’ll ever seen anybody shoot like that again.” It was high-praise from Baylor, who himself is responsible for some of the greatest offensive exploits in league history. He averaged a remarkabled 38.3 points per a game during the 1961-62 season, and still retains the third highest scoring average all time (27.4 ppg).

Curry is currently rehabbing a grade-2 MCL sprain and is hoping to return to action in the Western Conference semifinals.
